Hello Turkey, my name is Richard and I’ll be eating you today.

Last night we celebrated Thanksgiving together with a bunch of friends. It was amazing, what a meal! Turkey, gravy, potatoes, green beans (with bacon), stuffing, and even cranberry sauce! Desserts? Oh yes! Apple pie, pumpkin pie, pecan pie, spice cake, and much more! 🙂

It was an amazing feast and as we ate together I came to a realization:

Thanksgiving is now my favorite holiday. Christmas has moved down the list.

Don’t get me wrong, I also enjoy Christmas – the food, the music, especially the caroling! And what a wonderful thing it is that we celebrate for Christmas! But I find that overall it is all a bit spoiled for me because of commercialism.

But Thanksgiving! Thanksgiving is all about family, friends, food, fellowship, and finally being thankful. And those are values that I can get behind wholeheartedly without reservation!

American Thanksgiving is a holiday where we remember the kindness that was shown to us during the first winter when we landed/discovered America. If it weren't for the Native American Indians helping us we would have starved and never survived.
